Abstract/Technology Overview

The company’s aim is to control any device by voice with maximum efficiency to create a more natural human interface. This is part of a broader industry trend evidenced both by existing commercial products such as Amazon’s Echo, Apple’s Siri, Google Now as well as research projects that will lead to future products, such as the company’s LEGO Mindstorms™ example from the field of robotics. In a nutshell;

Control any device by simple voice commands and in any language

Challenges 

How can we implement a voice controller whose algorithm runs without an internet connection on inexpensive hardware? 

  • Small footprint code requiring little storage and memory
  • Can run on inexpensive microprocessors/microcontrollers (less than 1 US$)
  • Easily ported to a wide range of devices

Overview of technology

A streamlined voice recognition engine was developed, running in low cost, miniature hardware, able to replace physical switches and controls via voice commands.

The solution is small enough to be ported to a multitude of platforms: 

  • Those already containing some kind of CPU (e.g. washing machines, air conditioners, audio equipment, TVs etc.)
  • As a hardware add-on.

Potential Applications

Applications to our solutions may be found in automotive, security, wearables, elderly, disabled, toys, selfies, sports, drones and others. To illustrate, we offer some examples:

Voice triggered LEGO and IKEA products:

  • Children toy/education and home appliances market 
  • Leveraging existing customer base 
  • No partner needed to test market 
  • Internet requirement would reduce usefulness 
  • Significantly enhance customer experience 

Mute for safety: mute in-car entertainment (e.g. movies) when children are noisy in order to improve driver focus

GPS control: say "Home" and the GPS will switch on and display the route to home

Driver profile: speak to the car key, which recognises the speaker, causing the car to adjust entertainment (e.g. radio stations) and operating settings to driver's preferences
